The LCD-4 is an open-back, over-ear headphone built around a planar magnetic driver. The 106 mm Nano-Scale Uniforce diaphragm is driven by a Double Fluxor array of Neodymium N50 magnets, with Fazor phase management. Its quoted frequency response runs from 5 Hz to 50 kHz, with distortion below 0.1% at 100 dB and a maximum SPL above 130 dB.
The headphone has a nominal impedance of 200 ohms and a sensitivity of 97 dB/1 mW. It needs a capable amplifier: more than 100 mW is the minimum and more than 500 mW is recommended. Maximum power handling is 5 W RMS. Weight is 690 g.
It connects through dual 4-pin mini-XLR sockets. The supplied 1.9 m cable ends in a 1/4 inch plug, and a professional travel case is included. The LCD-4 is listed as a legacy product, with the LCD-5 and LCD-4z named as current alternatives.
