StereoCreator

StereoCreator works from the individual diaphragm signals captured by two OC818 microphones. Because those signals are recorded separately, the choice of stereo technique can be made after the performance rather than before it. The plug-in switches between true X/Y, M/S and Blumlein on the same recorded take, so the different images can be compared directly.

Beyond choosing the technique, the plug-in reshapes the stereo image. In X/Y the angle can be opened or narrowed between 30° and 150°, and the polar patterns can be adjusted to control separation and the amount of room sound. In M/S the Mid pattern and the stereo width can be fine-tuned, and a Blumlein image can be rotated by ±30°. The parameters can be automated so the stereo image changes over the course of a piece.

StereoCreator is offered as a free download for macOS and Windows, with a separate PDF-style manual available from the same product page. It is used inside a host recording environment on tracks captured with the two OC818 microphones.
