The VAULT 2i rips standard audio CDs through a slot-loading drive to FLAC, WAV or MP3 (320 kbps) and stores them on a 2TB low-noise internal drive. Music can also be copied to it, or read from other network storage, through its USB port, which also handles backup and restore of a personal library. Once on a wired network it shares the library with Bluesound players without a computer.
Playback is managed through the BluOS app for iOS and Android, which also brings streaming services, internet radio and podcasts. The unit supports AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Roon Ready, plus Alexa voice control and several home-automation control systems. Bluetooth works in both directions (transmit and receive) with aptX HD support, and an optional RC1 remote is available.
For connecting to a system it offers analog RCA stereo output (with a fixed-level option), coaxial and optical digital outputs, a headphone output, a subwoofer output and a 12 V trigger out. A combined optical/3.5 mm input is also fitted. It uses a 32-bit/192 kHz DAC and comes in black or white.
