Fuzz Master General
The Fuzz Master General is an analog octave fuzz guitar pedal based on the vintage Ace Tone Fuzz Master FM-2. It adds a three-way clipping selector and a variable tone control, and suits guitarists, bassists and synth players after octave-up fuzz. It is no longer in production.
- Octave fuzz based on the Ace Tone Fuzz Master FM-2
- Three-way Voice toggle: germanium, silicon or no diode clipping
- Variable Tone control replaces the original two-setting footswitch
- Controls: Fuzz, Tone, Level, Voice
- 9V DC, 2.1mm negative centre, 10 mA draw
- No longer in production

The Fuzz Master General reworks the circuit of the Ace Tone Fuzz Master FM-2, an octave fuzz similar to the Super Fuzz. The Fuzz control covers a wide range, from nearly clean to full buzz-saw distortion. The original used a footswitch to choose between two tone settings. This version has a continuous Tone control that runs from open treble to a scooped, bass-heavy sound. It also has more output volume and a lower noise floor than the vintage unit.
A three-way Voice toggle selects the clipping style. Germanium clipping gives more output and a looser, more open fuzz. Silicon clipping compresses the signal for a tighter fuzz. The centre position removes diode clipping, which gives a nearly clean upper octave close to ring modulation. This mode is very loud, so the Level control should be turned down when using it.
The octave effect is analog and works best with single notes, played above the 12th fret on the neck pickup, though chords also work. The pedal runs from a standard 9 V DC supply with a 2.1 mm negative-centre barrel and draws 10 mA. It is made by hand in Akron, Ohio.
