Space Spiral

The Space Spiral is a delay pedal with built-in modulation, built around an early digital echo processor but voiced for dark, murky repeats reminiscent of oil can and tape delays. Delay time spans 30 ms to 600 ms, covering slapback through long rhythmic washes. Pushing Repeats past roughly the 3 o'clock position makes the delay self-oscillate indefinitely, and the oscillation carries on even when the pedal is bypassed.

Six knobs shape the sound: Time, Repeats and Mix handle the delay itself, while Depth, Shape and Rate control the modulation. Shape morphs the modulation waveform from a smooth triangle to a choppy square. Suggested settings include a sound-on-sound arpeggio echo and a reel-to-reel style chorus that can be placed on one side of a stereo pair.

The pedal uses relay-based true bypass with Flexi-Switch, so the footswitch works either as latching (tap on, tap off) or momentary (active only while held). Because the relay needs power to pass signal, the pedal must be powered. It runs from a 9 V DC supply with a 2.1 mm negative-centre barrel connector.
