SourcePoint 888

The SourcePoint 888 is a 3-way vented floorstanding speaker sold as a pair. It uses a concentric driver, with a 1.25-inch wide-roll soft dome tweeter sitting in front of an 8-inch paper cone midrange, and adds two 8-inch paper cone woofers for low frequencies. The design builds on the SourcePoint 8, with chief loudspeaker designer Andrew Jones aiming for a higher performance level. Rated response runs from 32 Hz to 30 kHz.

The cabinet is built from thick MDF with internal bracing and a sculpted, multi-faceted front baffle intended to reduce diffraction. Fabric-wrapped grills attach magnetically and follow the baffle shape; removing them is recommended for critical listening. Finishes are Satin Walnut or Satin Black Ash real wood veneer, plus a Satin White Ash option, with book-matched grain across the pair.

Connection is through a standard speaker-level hookup to an amplifier. The nominal impedance is 6 ohms (4.5 ohms minimum), sensitivity is 87 dB, and maximum power input is 200 W. A manual is available for download.
