The 2M Mono is a moving-magnet cartridge made for mono microgroove LPs. Its stylus is a nude spherical diamond with an 18 µm tip radius, a size chosen to sit correctly in the wider grooves of mono-era pressings. The body is polymer and aluminium, with an aluminium cantilever.
The output is strapped, so both sets of pole pins carry the same signal. This lets the cartridge be used with an ordinary stereo phono stage and playback chain, with no mono-specific equipment needed. Because it reads the groove in a single plane, it is intended to cut the surface noise a stereo cartridge picks up from mono records.
The cartridge belongs to the 2M Series, which is sized to fit most common turntables. It comes in three configurations: standard, Premounted for S-shaped tonearms, and Verso for bottom-mount headshells. The recommended tracking force is 1.8 g, with a load of 47 kOhm and 150-300 pF.
