The SHP-8 is a closed-back, over-ear headphone aimed at studio monitoring and DJ use. It uses 40 mm drivers and a passive bass accentuation system. Each ear cup can be set separately to neutral, +3 dB or +6 dB, so the low end can be adjusted for different jobs. The sound is described as neutral and detailed across the full frequency range.
The ear cups rotate, and the extendable aluminium headband is flexible enough for one-ear monitoring. Padding is memory foam covered in protein leather, chosen for comfort and moisture absorption in long sessions. The build combines aluminium with a gunmetal finish, and the colour is anthracite grey.
The 2.2 m cable attaches to one side only and plugs into the ear cup, so it can be removed and replaced. It ends in a gold-plated 3.5 mm stereo plug with a spring-loaded bend protector. A gold-plated 6.3 mm adapter and a velvet storage bag come in the box.
