The 545SD is a dynamic, unidirectional microphone with a cardioid pattern and selectable high or low impedance. It is aimed at instrument pickup and recording, and can also be used on lecterns in public address systems.

The 545SD is a classic Unidyne dynamic microphone and the predecessor to the SM57. Its cardioid pickup pattern is described as very uniform, which helps keep feedback down. It is a dual-impedance design, supplied wired for low-impedance operation.
A magnetic reed on/off switch operates silently and can be locked in the on position. This suits both studio and stage use, where switch noise or accidental muting would be a problem. The microphone is used as an instrument pickup and for recording, and also on lecterns in public address setups.
A single A25D microphone clip is included. Related accessories for the 545SD family include the A2WS locking windscreen, the A26M dual microphone mount and the RK244G replacement screen and grille. The SM57 and Beta 57A are listed as comparable models.
