The DA-20mkII is a rack-mountable DAT (Digital Audio Tape) recorder that handles the three standard DAT recording modes: 32 kHz long play, 44.1 kHz CD-compatible and 48 kHz DAT standard. It can override SCMS copy-management codes, which lets users copy public-domain or self-owned material that a recorder obeying those flags would block.
On the practical side it offers a record mute function, timer record and play, and a margin counter display mode. Track names can be stored in the DAT subcodes. A headphone output with its own level control is included for monitoring.
Analog connections are unbalanced RCA inputs and outputs, and digital audio goes in and out over coaxial S/PDIF. The unit takes up 3 U in a rack and ships with the RC-D20 wireless remote. The manufacturer lists the model as discontinued.
