The GS Mini-e Koa Plus is a scaled-down acoustic-electric built around a solid Hawaiian koa top, with layered two-piece koa back and sides. The body is the smaller GS Mini shape, paired with a tropical mahogany Taylor neck, ebony fretboard and ebony bridge. Top, back, sides and neck all carry a matte finish, and the guitar has a shaded edge burst. It has no cutaway, pickguard, armrest or body binding.

Amplification is handled by the Expression System 2 pickup, which uses a behind-the-saddle design and is powered by a 9V battery housed at the tail end next to the jack. This Plus version has no onboard tuner. Hardware includes Taylor nickel tuners with an 18:1 ratio, a Nubone nut, a Micarta saddle and black bridge pins. It is strung with medium-gauge (.013-.056) coated phosphor bronze strings.

Compared with the standard GS Mini-e Koa, the Plus adds the ES2 electronics, the edge burst and the included AeroCase. The model is made in Taylor's Tecate, Mexico factory and is offered in right- and left-handed versions.
