The IO-4 is a closed-back, circumaural headphone built around a custom 50 mm driver with a free-edge paper fibre cone and an optimised neodymium magnet system. The design aims at low distortion, minimal colouration and accurate dynamics across the frequency range, and it uses the same design approach as the maker's loudspeakers.
The ear pads are memory foam that moulds to the head for comfort on long sessions and a consistent seal. The lithium-ion battery gives up to 60 hours of playback and recharges in about 2.5 hours. Battery-level LEDs and voice prompts show the remaining charge, and when the battery is empty the headphones can still be used in passive mode.
For connection, the IO-4 supports Bluetooth 5.0 with AAC, aptX and aptX HD. A USB-C connector and a 3.5 mm mini-jack input are available for wired use. The ear pads are designed to be replaced by the user, and a travel case is sold separately.
