The MCX8000 combines a 4-channel digital mixer, two displays and velocity-sensitive performance pads in a metal chassis. In standalone mode it plays prepared libraries from USB flash drives using Engine software, so no laptop is needed. It also works as a controller for Serato DJ Pro, with all four channels usable at once, and is ready for a DVS upgrade for vinyl control.
The mixer has two microphone channels, three built-in effects (echo, phaser, noise) for Engine USB and line inputs, and 24-bit audio. Pads cover hot cues, rolls, slicer and samples. Firmware 2.1 for Engine adds waveform beatgrid display and editing, mic and USB talkover attenuation, and quantized beat sync.
Two USB ports take flash drives for Engine playback, and a powered rear USB port is for an external hard drive used with Serato DJ Pro. Balanced XLR outputs feed the booth and PA. StagelinQ networking allows control of lighting and video. Libraries are prepared on a PC or Mac in Engine Prime.
