The AVR-X2900H is a seven-amplifier AV receiver that drives 7.2 surround or 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos layouts. It is rated at 95 W per channel into 8 ohms and meets the maker's 70% power guarantee with five channels driven. Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and DTS Neural:X handle 3D audio, and Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG are passed through.
Video handling covers 4K and 8K, with 8K pass-through and upscaling of lower-resolution sources. Gaming support includes 4K/120Hz, Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency Mode and AMD FreeSync. Room correction is Audyssey MultEQ XT with Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume, using the supplied measuring microphone, and an optional Dirac Live upgrade is supported.
The receiver has six HDMI inputs and two outputs, one of them eARC, plus a phono (MM) input, optical and coaxial digital inputs, and a second zone. HEOS makes the receiver the first zone of a multiroom system that is controlled from the HEOS app and works with Denon Home speakers. Spotify streaming and Josh.ai voice control are also listed.
