The Hammertone Metal is a distortion pedal built around a Fender-designed high-gain circuit. It is described as low-noise, with a dynamic and aggressive character. Two active controls, Bass and Treble, give up to 15 dB of boost or cut for shaping the tone.
Inside, trim-pots allow preset adjustments: a mid-range trimmer adds bite, and a tone control reduces very high frequencies to tame a bright amp. The enclosure and hardware are metal, the knobs carry the Fender F logo, and switching is true bypass.
Input and output jacks are on the top edge of the pedal, which saves board space and gives more routing options. The pedal runs from a 9-volt battery or a centre-negative AC adaptor, which is not included. Owner's manuals are available in several languages and a 2-year limited warranty document is listed.
