The CM-8 is a passive two-way ceiling speaker built around an 8" polypropylene low/mid driver with a ferrite magnet and a 1" aluminium dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet. The crossover sits at 2.2 kHz, and the integrated sound guides give a 135° dispersion angle. Frequency response runs from 73 Hz to 20 kHz (-6 dB). Sensitivity is 90 dB at 1 W/1 m.
It can be driven at 8 ohms or from a 100 V line through a front-operated transformer with bypass, with four power taps from 5 W to 30 W. The steel back can is multi-stiffened to avoid resonance, and the rimless front grille attaches magnetically. A black and a white grille are supplied, along with a cut-out template and two cover plates for cable entry. Three front-accessible clamps secure the speaker in ceilings up to 40 mm thick.
Connection is by 2-pin Euroblock plugs for input and parallel output. Presets and filter sheets are offered for DSP amplifiers and processors, including Lab.gruppen LUCIA, BSS, Powersoft, QSC Q-SYS and Symetrix. HK Audio suggests adding a subwoofer such as the SI Series S210 V or FINEO FO S112 for low-frequency support.
