X-Amp 500
The X-Amp 500 is a 500-series active reamper module that sends a pre-recorded, line-level track back out to guitar amps and pedals. It is aimed at recording and mixing engineers who want to re-tone guitar parts after tracking.

The X-Amp 500 takes a balanced line-level signal from the rack's rear-panel XLR input and converts it to an unbalanced, buffered, instrument-level signal. This lets a dry, previously recorded guitar track be played back through amplifiers and effects, so tone and microphone placement can be settled after the performance has been captured.
The signal path uses discrete class-A electronics and feeds two transformer-isolated high-impedance outputs on front-panel 1/4" jacks. Each output has its own level control and a ground lift to help reduce hum from ground loops. A 180º polarity switch brings both amps into phase if they are out of phase with each other.
It can also be used as a distribution stage: with a guitar plugged into the Omniport of a Workhorse rack, the signal can be sent to two amplifiers up to 15 meters (50 feet) away. Alternatively, the dry guitar can be sent from the rack's XLR output to a DAW for later reamping.
