The V-Piano Grand generates its piano sound by modeling rather than by switching between recorded samples, so notes are described as having no velocity switching or looping. The engine uses up to 264 virtual strings and offers 30 preset tones and 100 user tones, with editable parameters such as hammer hardness, string resonance, soundboard resonance, damper resonance and unison tune. Presets range from vintage to futuristic piano models.
The instrument has an 88-key PHA III Ivory Feel keyboard with escapement and a Progressive Damper Action pedal that detects continuously. Its built-in multi-channel sound system places different parts of the piano sound at different positions in real time, using 60 W x 4 amplification and a speaker array of 30 cm, 12 cm and 5 cm drivers. The cabinet has a mirror-finished fallboard that also works as a sliding lid, and a folding music rest.
For connection, it provides balanced XLR and 1/4-inch outputs, line inputs, MIDI IN/OUT, USB ports for a computer and memory, and a headphone jack. A song player handles MIDI, WAV and MP3 files, with a one-track MIDI recorder. A V-Piano Editor application is available for computer-based editing.
