VP-03
The VP-03 is a compact Boutique-series vocoder module that recreates the sound and layout of the classic VP-330 Vocoder Plus. It combines vocoder, human voice and strings sections with a supplied gooseneck mic, aimed at synth and vocal-effects players who want a portable setup.

The VP-03 reproduces the vocoder, human voice and strings sound sources of the VP-330 using ACB modelling, while keeping the original's control layout in a small metal-fronted housing. A gooseneck XLR microphone is supplied, so the voice can be used to shape the onboard synthesized sounds. A built-in mini speaker allows playing without external gear, and two ribbon controllers handle pitch bend, modulation and sound preview.
Two functions go beyond the original instrument. A Voice Step Sequencer holds 16 steps, with up to six notes per step, and can store a note, a chord or a sampled voice in each step. Chord Memory provides 16 locations for one-finger chord playback, and both sequences and chords can be backed up to a computer over USB.
The unit has an XLR mic input, mini-jack line and headphone outputs, MIDI IN/OUT and a Micro-B USB port carrying audio and MIDI, so it also works as an audio interface for recording into a DAW. It runs on four AA batteries or USB bus power, and can be docked in the optional K-25m 25-key keyboard unit or the DK-01 dock case.
