The MX183 is a wired omnidirectional miniature lavalier condenser microphone from the Microflex series with an interchangeable cartridge. It is aimed at speech work such as broadcast presenting, speeches, lectures and houses of worship.

The MX183 is a miniature lavalier condenser microphone with an omnidirectional pickup pattern. It uses a screw-on interchangeable cartridge, so the capsule can be exchanged for cardioid or supercardioid versions from the same Microflex family (sold separately). It is intended for spoken-word use including broadcast presenting, speeches, lectures and worship spaces.
The mic comes with a snap-fit foam windscreen that stays in place and reduces breath noise, and a dual tie clip that can hold two microphones for dual miking. The tie clip rotates in 90 degree steps for flexible placement. The output is balanced and transformerless, which helps keep noise down over long cable runs.
The MX183 is built for wired operation. It has an in-line preamplifier and a 1.2 m cable ending in a TA4F connector. For wireless use, the maker offers the WL183, which is the same microphone without the preamplifier and plugs directly into Shure wireless bodypacks.
