MX185

The MX185 is a wired lavalier microphone from the Microflex series, built around a cardioid condenser cartridge. It is intended for speech work, including broadcast presenting, speeches, lectures and worship venues. The output is balanced and transformerless, which helps keep noise low over long cable runs.

The capsule is an interchangeable cartridge that screws onto the top of the microphone. Cardioid, supercardioid and omnidirectional cartridges can be swapped in, but the extra cartridges are sold separately. A snap-fit foam windscreen is supplied to control breath noise, and a rotatable tie clip pivots in 90 degree steps for placement. A dual tie clip that holds two microphones for dual miking is also supplied.

The microphone connects through an in-line preamplifier and a 1.2 m cable with a TA4F connector. For wireless use the same microphone is offered without the preamplifier as the WL185, which plugs directly into Shure wireless bodypacks.
