A FireWire audio/MIDI interface combined with a moving-fader control surface, built by TASCAM with Frontier Design Group for small studios. It offers 10 inputs at 96kHz/24-bit and controls major DAWs. The model has been discontinued.

The FW-1082 is a 10-in/4-out FireWire interface at 96kHz/24-bit. Inputs are four balanced XLR/TRS mic/line inputs with phantom power, four balanced TRS line inputs and an S/PDIF stereo pair, all usable at once. The first two mic channels have TRS insert jacks. Outputs include balanced TRS monitor outs, a headphone output with level control and S/PDIF out. Two MIDI ins and outs cover 32 channels, and an assignable footswitch jack is provided. The unit can also mix internally for stand-alone use.
The control surface has nine 60mm touch-sensitive moving faders: eight channel strips plus a master. Each strip has select, solo and mute buttons and a record-arm indicator. Four assignable encoders handle pan, aux level and EQ parameters, and there are transport controls and a jog/shuttle wheel.
It emulates Mackie HUI and Mackie Control and includes native control plug-ins. It is listed as working with Ableton Live, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro and Digital Performer, and as a HUI surface and MIDI interface for Pro Tools. Cubase LE (48 tracks, 96kHz) is included. Drivers are listed for Windows and Mac OS X.
